Timeframe: 2010 – 2015
Project Description: Having started with formal programs to address the HIV pandemic, between 2010 and 2015, MSHARP – Multisectoral HIV and AIDS Response Program was at the core of the fight against HIV. Meant to
Reduce the new infection among vulnerable groups and the general population; mitigate the impact of the epidemic on the health and socio-economic systems as well as infected and affected persons; and promote healthy lifestyles, especially in the area of sexual and reproductive health, this approach would involve the collaborative efforts of key stakeholders.
WAAF was one of the key partners of the Ghana AIDS Commission on this project which enabled WAAF to reach out to many with preventative activities. Outcomes/impact: Various individuals had access to HIV prevention including knowledge of their status. The collaboration also allowed for capacity building of smaller organizations such as community-based ones who many a time do lots on behalf of their communities but do not get the recognition for their hard work to be recognized and for some even to access funding to support their work.
