WAAF Charity Golf Classic 2025. Swinging Towards an HIV Free Future.

The West Africa AIDS Foundation (WAAF) has been at the forefront of the fight against
HIV/AIDS for over 25 years. WAAF’s mission is to provide timely and accessible health
education to all, and accessible equitable treatment, care, and support to people living with HIV
(PLHIV), while advocating for people centered healthcare free of any form of stigma and
discrimination
To support the ongoing essential work of WAAF, a Charity Golf Tournament is being organized
to climax Africa’s prestigious conference on HIV and STIs, the ICASA conference, that will be
held in Accra, Ghana from the 3rd- 8th December 2025. The event will bring together
stakeholders, partners, donors, supporters and individuals committed to Ending AIDS whilst
enjoying the fun of golf, to contribute to ensuring WAAF is able to sustain the mission they are
all committed to, namely, controlling the HIV Epidemic and ending AIDS by 2030.

2. Objective of the Event

The main objective of WAAF’s Charity Golf Tournament is to increase awareness about
WAAF’s cause around HIV, and to build relationships with sponsors and potential donors, while
also providing fun and an engaging event for all participants.

3. Event Description

The Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday 7th December 2025 at the Achimota Golf
Course in Accra. It will be a day of fun on the course while supporting a great cause and will
start in the morning with teams of amateur and professional golfers paired in groups playing the
wonderful 18-hole course with exciting features such as ‘closest to the pin’, the ‘longest drive’,
‘hole-in-one’, ‘beat the pro’, and many more. Other activities of the day will vary ranging from
fundraising raffles, various sponsorships, merchandise sales, silent auctions of valuable items,
including golf celebrities donated personal items, testimonials of success stories, and much more.
Various sponsorships will also be available such as a hole sponsor, Birdie sponsor, Eagle sponsor
of which details are listed below.

4. Target Audience

Community representatives.
● Corporate partners, Tourism Board, Ministry of sports, GAC, UNAIDS, Private
sector for health, other stakeholders in HIV, STIs and potential sponsors.
● Affluent individuals and philanthropists, and anyone seeking to sponsor a good cause.
● Representatives from local and international organizations.
● Development Partners and Media representatives.

5. Expected Outcomes

● Enhanced visibility of WAAF’s efforts for sponsors and participating businesses.
● Fundsraised to support WAAF’s HIV prevention and treatment programs.
● CommunityEngagement: Increased public awareness about the importance of HIV
testing, prevention, and reducing stigma.

6. Sponsorship and Partnership Opportunities

Various sponsorship packages are available, offering visibility through branding, media exposure,
and direct engagement with the target audience as well as recognition during the event and in
post-event communications.

7. Budget and Use of Funds

Funds raised from the event will be used:
● Long-Term sustainability of WAAF’s HIV prevention and treatment of PLHIV
efforts
● ExpandWAAF’scommunityHIV prevention events and outreach (25 years of
operation).
● Support advocacy to reduce HIV related stigma and discrimination.
● Support and cover essential operational expenses such as administrative costs
● Equipthe WAAFclinics and Drop-in Center (DICs) with the essential medical
supplies and resources
