My Experience with West Africa AIDS Foundation (WAAF)

My internship with the West Africa AIDS Foundation (WAAF) was not just a professional experience; it was a deeply personal journey that shaped my perspective on healthcare, advocacy, and community service. From the moment I stepped into WAAF, I was embraced by a team of dedicated professionals whose passion for making a difference was contagious.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my time there was engaging directly with individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. Listening to their stories, seeing their resilience, and being able to offer support no matter how small left an indelible mark on me. WAAF taught me that healthcare is more than just treatment; it is about education, empowerment, and restoring dignity to those in need.

Beyond the hands-on experience, I found a family at WAAF. The mentorship I received was invaluable, not just in developing my technical skills but also in shaping my confidence as a future healthcare advocate. Whether it was assisting in outreach programs, working on patient education, or contributing to policy discussions, every task made me feel like I was part of something greater than myself.

This internship reinforced my passion for public health and advocacy, reminding me why I chose this path in the first place. I am deeply grateful to WAAF for the knowledge, support, and unforgettable experiences that I will carry with me throughout my career.
