WAAF/IHCC are two organizations that pride themselves on what they do. First and foremost is the impact we make on those who work with us. For over 20 years, we have had the privilege of working with many people and we are proud to say that each and everyone who has worked with WAAF/IHCC, even if they have moved on, always look back on their time with us with complete satisfaction and gratitude. Many have actually been so much influenced by their time with WAAF/IHCC that what they do today has been as a result of their experience with us. We are extremely happy when we go to other facilities, companies, organizations, departments and find individuals who once upon were with WAAF/IHCC.

We also pride ourselves in seeing advocates, activists, leaders from the affected communities who once upon a time were on admission on our clinic beds now hold such important positions. There is so much that can be said about our work that it is difficult to write down in just a few words. Therefore, we will just bullet a few of the successes from over the years:  WAAF/IHCC:

  • Introduced the first-ever hospice program in Ghana
  • Was one of the very first organizations in Ghana to start HIV testing at the community level
  • Together, continue to manage over 2000 PLHIV at the clinic with retention in care rate of around 85% since 2018 and a PMTCT success rate of 99%.
  • Assisted in the setting up of one of the first support groups for PLHIV – Almond Tree Group that made many PLHIV self-sufficient
  • Successfully, supported Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) through hard times.
  • Have had over 500 interns/volunteers passing through our facilities
  • Introduced the use of Mobile Clinics to better serve our communities
  • Were among the first facilities to implement Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in Ghana
  • Have successfully supported PLHIV and those who have lived with TB to take charge of their affairs
  • Remain a public health site for many (global) public health students, medical students, nursing students, social work students, and more to assist in the advancement of their carrier
