Stop TB Partnership Small Grant Project Update

Stop TB Partnership Small Grant Project Update

Introduction:

The 3-month project from April-June 2019 was created to screen for TB at 2 private health facilities at their outpatient department (Ga East Municipal, being Ghana Atomic Energy Commission hospital and Ashongman Community Hospital). WAAF also planned to conduct 3 community TB screening activities in overpopulated communities.

Purpose:

This small grant project was conducted to help test for TB in Ghanaian communities as only about 33% of TB cases have been detected nationwide.

Outcome:

With a few weeks left in the project almost 300 people have been reached with education and awareness on TB. 144 of these people were screened. 28 of the 144 people were classified as eligible to TB and they had their sputum sample tested. 3 people were diagnosed TB positive, with one of them with multi resistant TB.
